OCD toolbox. - Chime in !

I did not want to whore up @CATERPILLAR thread so decided to start another.

The goal in my shop is that everything has its place. If it doesn't  I spend most my time wandering around trying to find a place for it when I clean up.

I use my tools and although they all have a spot, my intent is not to have everything lined up and perfectly neat. I am not that OCD.

I just walked out to the shop and snapped some pictures.

As the title says, chime in with yours.  I am always looking for better ways to do stuff.

This is pretty much mechanical tools as the wood and steel fabrication has their own spot in the garage.

I used to have a crazy ocd box. Most of my late teens to mid 20s I spun a wrench for a living. Giant Matco box, with side cabinet. Every wrench, socket etc had its place. I sold the box air tools and most of the specialty tools before moving to CA. Now I just have everything stuffed into a small craftsman box and some stuff in my box at work.

Hey @rrmccabe Rich, I never told you that I bought some of the plier wire racks and magnetic socket holders for my tool box.  I love those things.  The save so much room.  I don't have any open end or box wrenches in my box, so I didn't purchase one of those organizers.  I can't say enough about the wire racks and socket holders though.  Perfect.

I'm using some kaizen foam in my lathe tool setup.  I'll have to take some pictures of those drawers when I get a chance.

Glad you like them John. You have been riding along as my shop evolved so you probably understand this more than anyone.

Just keep picking away. As our friend Paul Akers always says "fix what bugs you".

I truely believe in that saying.  My fixes aren't always a success, but those are just mistakes that I got out of the way.

Did I ever tell you that I got to meet Paul in Vegas?  He was really busy, so I only got to say HI and introduce myself.

Everything has a place in my boxes. Not organized with anything other then there's enough tools to keep other tools from moving around. When a gap forms i buy more tools. Which leads to another tool box and so on... My names Aaron and i have an addiction.

Ooh we love pictures haha ..

I don't think I miss having a tool box like that, reminds me too much of my time in the auto shop ha

My dad was a plumber, I think I never got into it because I hated when he would just dump 5 gallon pails of fittings on the floor and it was my job to pick them all up. :) I was cutting cast iron, threading black pipe and cutting and cleaning copper by around 12 years old. Glad I was around in the lead and oakum days.  I drove the plumber nuts when I renovated my house and threw him off the job. They were not used to a home owner that actually knew what they were talking about. I wrote up a 35 page document with all their FU's

LOL, I understood what he said as soon as he said it.  The old "misc bucket".  That was my daughters duty as well.  Dump the bucket and sort through and find what you want. Then have the kid put it back.

Makes sense to me  :)

If only tools put themselves away.

That is becoming less of an issue for me. As I build tool storage that fits only a specific tool I find it easy to put it back.

All my struggles over the years of putting stuff back is because I am wandering around trying to figure out where to put it.
