Love the old plant and patina that goes along with it.
Conductor562
I'm in the same boat. A few months ago I decided I wanted a good combo square set with all the bells and whistles. Had my heart set on a Starrett. Then I found some and decided I didn't need one to be "that good". I ended with a $30 or $40 set from Grizzly. Which I am very happy with btw
rrmccabe
Over the years I have bought a 6" combination square and a 12" combination. I have the 45 and protractor head for the 12" but that is all I own. Oh, I did buy a pair of dial vernier calipers with fractions that were oddly cheap for Starrett. I have had a pair of mitutoyo digitals for years but for woodworking I prefer dial. I did not even know Grizzly had calipers. Is it Grizzly brand? Atlas2000
Used to use Starrett stuff a lot when I was doing contract work at RTI for DARPA. That was a long time ago and their tools were the best, bar none. As with so many things though, that may no longer be true.

It was the Grizzly combo square set: Nice set for $36 bucks. I just couldn't stomach $250 for a Starrett. http://www.grizzly.com/products/4-pc-Combination-Square-12-/G5726?utm_campaign=zPage&utm_source=grizzly.com
rrmccabe
Looks nice. Except for color and the level, it looks about the same.
