BMack37
I haven't seen anything on this but... On June 1, 2016, Southwire announced a voluntary recall of two non-contact voltage detectors, models 40110N and 40120N, due to the potential for shock and burn hazards. More information about the recall, including the official press release, photos of the products and a series of frequently asked questions, is available at the following link: http://bddy.me/2plWLb8
BMack37
I've always been soo hesitant to trust NCV meters. I have the Southwire 40150N and was expecting to get over that lack of trust but I can make it false read by tapping it. I'm soo much more trusting of a DMM or clamp meter. Stercorarius
The thing I like about NCV meters is that they are quick. I don't use them to establish a safely dead leg, but to establish that a leg is live. If it lights up I won't touch it. If it doesn't light up then I'll test it with a DMM and then touch it it's saved me once or twice.
HiltiWpg
Southwire has no business making testers. I tried them all, greenlee, klein, Milwaukee, southfire, GB, etc. Throw them all out. Every last one failed at some point. Fluke or nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
HiltiWpg
Switched to this:I kind of prefer the visual indication, especially in loud environments!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
