I haven't seen anything on this but...

 

On June 1, 2016, Southwire announced a voluntary recall of two non-contact voltage detectors, models 40110N and 40120N, due to the potential for shock and burn hazards. The thing I like about NCV meters is that they are quick. I don't use them to establish a safely dead leg, but to establish that a leg is live. If it lights up I won't touch it. If it doesn't light up then I'll test it with a DMM and then touch it it's saved me once or twice.
