ChrisK
So here is a conversation starter. Does anybody have a direct comparison between the three speed Milwaukee fuel impact and Makita's three speed brush less impact? Just curious, I have the M18 Fuel but HD in the next town over has the Makita lxdt01 kit for $179. Clearance. Which made me think...hmmmm should I or should I not.
Conductor562
Well, in terms of performance your looking at 1460 in/lbs, 2800 rpm, and 3400 IPM with the Makita versus 1600 in/lbs, 2900 rpm, and 3600 IPM with the fuel. The feel of the fuel is better too. I find my hand is a tad big for the Makita as I constantly hit the selector switch inadvertently. You'll get more run time from the fuel as well. The Makita offers you nothing. It's a step back from what you have. Unless you just need a second impact, I say pass.
ChrisK
Thanks! I was really curious when I saw it at HD and the price is good but $179 is still $179! Thanks for the side by side too, I was looking for video and Google did not have anything!
Conductor562
That is a good price on it, but unless you need a 2nd impact you could parlay that $180 into a killer bare tool in the Milwaukee M18 system you already have. Maybe that's just me rambling on.
ChrisK
Nah I'm with you. I'm thinking about a m12 fuel tool but I cannot see spending the coin on one! I've got a great 12v Bosch hammer. But the price piqued me. Still 179 can but a new m12 fuel kit at HD online!
Conductor562
I want the M12 fuel 3/8" Impact wrench. It's got good power in a small package. I can think of tons of times it would have been handy. They'll be available February 1st. They're taking pre-orders now.
ChrisK
So I looked over HD's site and if you type in Milwaukee Fuel, they have several tools for sale. However they seem to have sold out online. I don't know if this is an early start but I was surprised to see them in already!
Conductor562
Yea, they don't ship until February 1st. They said sold out the day they popped up on the site. I dunno why the don't state that they're pre-order, but they are.
ChrisK
There ya go! So HD makes it look like they have them in to get hits online and boost sales from those hits! Sneaky sons a guns!
Conductor562
Northern Tool and Tool Up did the same thing.
ChrisK
That frosts my chaps. I saw them there too, and thought they were out. That's BS. I understand the sales philosophy but know if you order one, back ordered! Nice!
EdmontonMech
Will review M12 fuel 3/8 impact when I receive it. For the Milwaukee 2653-22 M18 FUEL impact driver I find (having not used the Makita)That the mode selectors really take the guess work out of driving fastners, mode 1 not enough with full trigger pull? use mode 2. Perfect! That way you dont have to guess with a variable trigger. For a mechanic I need precise or near precise torque specs with my tools, without this one screw could be at say 40ft/lbs the other one 70ft/lbs and you wouldnt be able to tell the difference. Conductor562
I hate Makita drivers. I hit the directional switch by accident constantly.
