FerTheHandyman
Hi guys I'm thinking of buying a mini recip saw and I like the style that bosch and milwaukee have. Anybody have a suggestion on witch one I should get?
DR99
Milwaukee 12v line has more choices of bare tools to grow your collection of power tools. I have the small hackzall and It's been a great little tool.
firefighter4187
Do you have any of the DeWalt 12 volts. They have a nice compact pivoting recip saw.
Conductor562
I think in the majority of cases the Milwaukee/Bosch style is more what I'm looking for in a 12V mini saw. For 12V go Milwaukee. They quality is about the same, but Milwaukee has a much bigger 12V line to expand to. More to come as well!
crazyandy
I love the 12V Milwaukee line! Their little saw rocks and there are so many options of tools!

I was already leaning towards the Milwaukee the only reason I was'nt sure was because I have the 12v Bosch driver but Milwaukee does have a wider variety. Thanks for the info. Joe M
Dewalt and in the same token the Porter Cable 20v recip saws look about as durable as play-dough. I have the Hackzall and just use it for DYI stuff, but it just feels solid. I don't like the "adjustability" of the Dewalt and Porter Cable. Edit*****Meant to write 12v not 20v
firefighter4187
I didnt know PC came out with a 20v recip saw yet and i have heard that the Dewalt 20v max recip is a beast.
Joe M
Forgive me. I didnt mean to write 20v, I meant the 12v version.

Joe M
The hinge on the 12v recip saw for Dewalt makes me think it wont be that durable. (Sorry the image is so large)
firefighter4187
Yeah i agree, Eric, Dan Long term test on this?

wayneburgess
If I couldn't have my Metabo 12v Maxx I would go Milwaukee but Bosch are about to upgrade many tools hint hint
crazyandy
Haha what an original design, looks like the old milwaukee sawzall
firefighter4187
CrazyAndy, you are talking about the 12v max right?
Conductor562
Haha what an original design, looks like the old milwaukee sawzall We were talking about that when they came out. They still sell those Milwaukee Hatchet saws a few places. We found them back when the Dewalt design came out. They never upgraded the Hatchet to the M series batteries though. They're all Ni-Cad I believe.

Conductor562
Heres one: Still available for around $180. This one is a corded model. I liked these saws. Apparently Dewalt did too
firefighter4187
Haha very similar to the DeWalt.
wayneburgess
I have tried the 12v recip saws and the Metabo does destroy the other two on sheer power. It is in a complete other league of it's own.I ama massive Bosch fan and my Son loves Milwaukee but they are not even close to this thing it's a beast. redbirdone
I have the Bosch and one thing you have to keep in mind is don't expect 18v results. If your looking to do something small like cutting a 2x4 stud or notching something or similar, then it's great. If your having to cut for several feet or for more than a few minutes, you will be disappointed. I had to cut out an existing door and it took me all of 5 seconds to realize that I had the wrong tool for the job. I broke out my 8 year old Hitachi 18v and proceeded to cut it out in about 3 minutes. It's ugly and dated, but effective.
