Biggie
Like the title says, has anyone heard anything more about the new m18 1" impact. Is it still going to be released before the end of the year? What kind of torque numbers and price point will it have? I thought maybe there would be some more info about it at stafda but I never saw anything from any of the tool reviewers.
method
I was also looking for it in our latest local catalogues and it's not even available for pre-order. As far as torque numbers go, I never believe any of milwaukee, dewalt etc for cordless impact drivers because most of the time, a 1/2 inch impact gun will be rated having for example 5 times more torque than a corded 1 inch, high quality impact which makes no sense at all. kornomaniac
I'm no fan of Milwaukee torque numbers but I don't think they ever exeggerated numbers 5 times as big 😛
method
Example, milwaukee claim 700ft lbs of torque which equates to approx 950nm of torque using convertunits.com for their half inch m18 rattle gun. I have a festool/protool 1 inch electric gun that has 280nm printed on it.
kornomaniac
The problem is with your protool. A 1 inch impact wrench that only outputs 280 is completely wrong. 1 inch electric impacts get around 1000 Newton's. 280 is what a small compact cordless 1/2" gets. Somewhere that print on your protool is wrong
Biggie
Yea I think the electric gun they were comparing it to at nsp was a hitachi which has 740ft/lbs of torque which I believe is around that 1000nm. I don't know if Milwaukee is really lying about torque numbers as its been shown many times on skidmores that the 1/2" guns will in fact reach those torques. But yes it doesn't seem to make sense that 1" is rated the same or less. The 1" must be under rated or maybe has more to do with the force they hit with and the time it's takes to achieve the torque. Biggie
Great news it's finally here, 1800 nut busting 1500ft/lbs forward torque. The bad news it cost $699 bare tool or $999 for a kit with two 8.0 batteries and fast charger. For the guys who really need the torque and a 1" drive it's probably worth the cost but your average construction worker or mechanic will never get to harness the power of this beast. Framer joe
Definitely getting this. Taking off Lull tires and bringing them to the shop saves hundreds of bucks. Service trucks are big money. ...plus I have the gen 2 so go Big or go home. ..wish Dewalt had one.
