pgurnee
My cordless track saw is 1 1/2 years old and has preformed flawlessly...until this week. Plunging is getting more difficult and it will not return by itself. I removed the blade to see what I could see...nothing obvious. Any ideas? Thanks Paul
Mordekyle
Brand? My Dewalt FV tracksaw has a thumb operated release that has to be toggled forward in order to plunge. It releases a pin from the guard, allowing the plunge.Sometimes it tends to stick a little bit. Cleaning and a squirt of silicone seems to help.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
pgurnee
It is the Makita. It also has a button that releases the plunge. It does this smoothly. The problem is the return, the saw swinging back up to start so to speak. I have to 'help' it pull it back up. I removed the blade and lubed the only points I can see that make contact that might prevent the saw from returning up to the start position but to no avail. This is a new development. It has been an excellent saw for almost 2 years.
ToolBane
This sort of thing is almost never not going to be either accumulation of gunk, depletion of adequate grease, or both. With two years on it, I would suspect mostly the former. But if you fix it yourself you may as well regrease along the way anyway. I imagine it to be a pretty trivial thing to take apart and clean out but I don’t own the thing yet.
EcoDIY
Remove bottom plate & then hex screw on pivot pin case. Put grease (light grease best) in hex screw hole & replace hex screw. Plunge saw repeatedly to work grease in. Repeat if necessary.
