firefighter4187
As seen here, DeWalt is releasing a line of locking pliers and multi tools.....http://toolguyd.com/dewalt-locking-pliers/ I have a review coming up of the DeWalt wood chisels and Milwaukee angle Grinder. Harold Wray
Those angled teeth look like they can really bite into what you are clamping.
firefighter4187
Those angled teeth look like they can really bite into what you are clamping.Yes they do, but they do have a bulky look compared to irwin or sister company Blackhawk, Thow the unlocking lever is very similar to the blackhawk. Conductor562
I hate using locking pliers. Sometimes you have to, but I still don't like to.

Conductor562
Why conductor?Nothing will round off a fastener faster than Vise-Grips. They're alright for holding a nut on the underside of a bolt you're tightening or something, but beyond that I rarely use them.

Conductor562
Define "locking system"?
firefighter4187
The quick release on the vise grip brand vs the lever on the blackhawk/dewalt.
Conductor562
The Vise Grip release lever is terrible and best suited for pinching the shit out of your fingers. Under load you almost need a 2nd set of pliers to release them. The levers you pull up to release are far superior designs.

trogo
The Dewalt Pliers look real cheap, but their new Mechanic's Tool Sets (sold at Sears) are really nice quality. I've been using the 204 Piece Set for over a month now and really like them.
DR99
Sears has that Dewalt kit on sale for $125. I posted in tool deals about it.

DR99
The whole deal with the Dewalt sets being exclusive too Sears is effing weird. I would think Dewalt would want to work with a retailer in better shape than Sears.

NC-Fordguy
I'd love to know how the Dewalt sets are really sellingNot as well as was hoped. To warranty these tools requires a receipt and contacting dewalt. In other words one is not carrying a broken dewalt tool into Sears and exchanging it. I'm wondering if this may be a cause. Ease of warranty is a big deal for most of the Sear's customer base that remains. The wrenches seem nice, but the rats are too big and clunky feeling for my taste. NC-Fordguy
I suspected as much. Ease of warranty is a big deal for most of the Sear's customer base that remains. The wrenches seem nice, but the rats are too big and clunky feeling for my taste. Ease of warranty is one of those personal things. Certain tools that I buy that I break rather easily, I prefer an easy warranty. Torx bits, Hex bits, screwdrivers being some. Seeing how I've been using tools for nearly 40 years, I have bunches and bunches of stuff so breaking something doesn't stop me from getting something done. I have another so I can wait a couple weeks to mail stuff in or wait for the tool truck guy to get a new one. Contrary to what gets posted on another site, the tool truck guy doesn't have everything is stock. Somebody who is just starting out that doesn't have back ups for back ups, easy fast warranty would be a bigger selling point
Conductor562
I'm like you, I have enough shit the waiting a week or 2 to get a replacement isn't going to be a job stopper. Ease of warranty, warranty at all really, just isn't a big concern for me.
NC-Fordguy
Speaking of dewalt tools, I have the 200 something piece set and a set of metric and sae ratchet wrenches. You all want to see some pics?? anything in particular?

NC-Fordguy
We love pics....duh!Have you had the rats apart yet?Guess I need to get the camera ready. Of course I ?took one apart. Isn't that a prerequisite to joining one of these tool forums? The obsessive curiosity syndrome to see how things work?
Conductor562
lol, that's the first thing I do when I get a new rat. Tear it apart! It's amazing the rats that come with little or no factory lube at all.
tascher1
I don't know about DeWalt Hand tools. I think every company tries to expand to reach all types of markets.....but I think they need to put those dollars toward what they do best. POWER TOOLS!!!! Leave the market of hand tools to the companies that specialize in them like Klein, Channel Lock and Craftsman. I think the same think about Milwaukee....while their hand tools aren't bad....I just don't think of them as a hand tool company.
