Bosh 18v advance impact driver to reduce "Cam out"

Hi

I currently have a boesch advance 18v impact driver the one with a 1.5AH battery it is at present being repaired by bosch UK

I have lost faith in this tool and I am thinking of replaceing it with the Bosch advance 18 impact  that also comes with  normal chuck  the torque on this is 36NM as aposed to 138 NM of my old one.

I am just a basic DIYer So ifeel the newer one which has better drill features etc will be more useful to me .

My Question is  the Spec states impact drilling ? now my main requirement for the impact feature is to reduce "Cam out when driving cross head screws  will this new Advance impact do that or is the impact feature just for drilling ?

Further to my intermittent problem with My Bosch impact driver ,#It was returned from Bosch UK service a couple of days ago They replaced it instead of repairing it! BUT the replacement has the same intermittent Problem. i.e. it suddenly stops working . If I  remove the battery which IS charged place it on the charger for TEN seconds put it back on the driver ALL is well . Now ten seconds could not possibly   alter the state of charge I suspect it is reactivating  a protection device !!!

can this battery protection be disabled ? somehow ?. I like the product , But this is very frustrating  Please advise

I’ve never seen or touched this tool but one thing I’m wondering is if the 1.5Ah battery is just too small and easily over-driven by the tool. If it’s old and/or in bad condition those things could also make it easier for protection circuitry to trip. I think you are correct in assuming the charger could not possibly charge the battery enough to make any difference, does it even need to be put on the charger to reset or perhaps it might just be resetting after a certain amount of time?

From a little bit of googling I believe the tool you have would be considered a hammer drill in the US and a percussion drill in some other countries.  It's a green bosch so I'm assuming this isn't a US drill.  These drills have three modes. 1-screw driver mode which has an adjustable clutch to keep from over torquing a screw.  2-drill mode. 3- hammer/ percussion drill mode which is used for drilling into concrete.  This is a different tool than an impact driver which has a different type of hammer mechanism that's used for driving screws and helps prevent cam-out.  As far as your electrical cut out issue I don't have any idea but it sounds like something is defective.
