Jordi
Hello, I’m a Milwaukee guy (not that it really matters) but I’ve always liked Makita for their durability. I found an XPH07z on sale at my local Home Depot and I knew I had to have it. I do not have batteries for it yet, I’ve been waiting for a kit deal since one battery and a charger would cost much more than what I paid for the tool. That being said, when I got it the Chuck was opened all the way, and it was too tight to close, but then when I ended up putting more pressure it unstuck and started opening, except it made ratcheting noises as I closed it. I tried opening it again and it took some strength but once I got it to turn to the opening direction, if I went either direction the ratcheting was gone. Now, I noticed that every time I open the Chuck all the way, it will make the ratcheting noise when closing it until I turn the opposite way. Now this isn’t a ratcheting noise that happens when the Chuck is fully closed, i know that’s the ratcheting mechanism that holds the bit, this noise happens every time I turn the Chuck, similar to turning a ratchet wrench. What could this be? Could it be the ratcheting mechanism somehow getting stuck?
