Leonard Joosten
My bother has an old black and decker 2215 type 100 impact wrench that has been in the family for probably 40+ years. It finally died, can it be rebuilt? Is there any way to determine date of manufacture?
wingless
Welcome to the forum. Repair is probably possible. Assuming the issue is that the tool doesn't go when the trigger is squeezed? I found that those voltage chirping tools is very handy for this problem. Use it to carefully "sniff" around the internal tool wiring to determine where the voltage stops. Two likely sources are the squeeze trigger switch and the brushes. The brushes may be removed for a visual inspection. The cover for one of the brushes is shown in the image, to the left of the label.
Biggie
I don't know for sure with black and decker but a lot of times part of the serial number is a date code. I think I'm making out a 83 as the last numbers could possibly be the year.
