Jeth
I would like to know what you think about thishttp://www.treehugger.com/green-architecture/hottest-thing-ces-flir-thermal-imaging-iphone-case.html
DR99
It's really cool except I would have rather it used bluetooth and wasn't so attached to the phone. We are already on the Iphone 5s and we all know apple likes to change things up every 2 years. so it's probably unlikely that it will work with an Iphone6. That's my big concern with it I'm sure Flir will update it but what about if you want to upgrade phones for some reason.
Jeth
Good point! But the price is ok
DR99
I can't believe they got the price down that low. The Dewalt is 800 bucks and the Milwaukee unit is a crazy 3,000!!! So we all might have thermal cameras some day if they prices keep dropping like that!!
NicholasShetley
That is dirt cheap! I think it will sell great. If I had an iphone5 I would probably get one.
Harold Wray
I agree with dr99, would rather it not be so attached to the phone. It is still a really good price. Wonder if it would work with an iPhone touch?
Jeth
There is a Bluetooth one that work with iPhone4, iPod touch and androïde its the ir blue and only 165$ http://www.treehugger.com/gadgets/detect-drafty-windows-your-smartphone.html
Brien
When you upgrade to the iphone 6 you can dedicate your iphone 5s to be a thermal camera exclusively.
Javier
Agreed, bluetooth and I will add it needs to be universal. I know a ton of people have iphones but not all of them own 5 or 5s/c and a huge amount own all sorts of androids. Didn't read the article but it would be awesome if it could record video and take pictures instead of just displaying what the sensor sees. NicholasShetley
They have an android version "in the works" they said. It can record video and take pictures. Here is a link on toplguyd if anyone else wants to know more.http://toolguyd.com/flir-one-iphone-thermal-imaging-camera/
Javier
Yeah they have an android version but it's only for select models so I'm guessing it's going to only support the phone it's designed for. A universal one would be great.
ChrisK
I actually read the article too and am thinking about getting one for my work. Great for finding hidden compartments in trucks and cars not to mention the occasional dirt bag. I mean Non Tax Paying Citizen of Questionable Repute. But an awesome price for a pretty slick tool. Not to mention the added benefits of use at home for draft detection etc.
BK13
I understand the concern over being only for a specific model of phone, but I imagine the the prices will continue to fall, and I also see that additional companies will figure out how to copy FLIRs... Excuse me, design their own models....
