firefighter4187
Will the tool run with just one battery?? Or does it have to have 2?
regopit
From over at the tool ToolGuyd http://toolguyd.com/makita-18v-x2-circular-saw-xsh01z/#comment-198413 "Going by the prices of Makita’s other 18V X2 products, the price of the bare circular saw might be in the $300-$350 range. If so, the total cost for the bare tool, a charger, and one set of batteries would be over $500."
ChrisK
Wow. I thought my Festool addiction was expensive! Any chance Milwaukee might follow suit with a 36v combined tool?
NicholasShetley
I don't see it happening soon since they released their fuel version. It just isn't necessary at this point.
DR99
They Fuel circular saw is a pretty beastly saw but it does suck that its not a full size circular saw like the Makita. They It would be nice if Milwaukee offered a full sized saw down the road.
regopit
I can think of a lot of other tools I can spend $500.00 on.
Krane
Looks like this could solve my cordless circ-saw issue. Full size blade, now that's the ticket.
Conductor562
In all honesty, who in the hell is going to pay $500 for a cordless saw when a lighter, superior, electric saw can be had for $150? Is it really worth over 300% more to cut the cord? Not to me it isn't.
DR99
The Dewalt 36v 7 1/4 circular saw kit is only 400 dollars. I can't see Makita asking 500 for theirs its just too much money. At that price Makita relegates it to a specialty tool that people can't justify buying.

It looks like the X2 saw is going to be lighter, from the little info I can web gather, and to some of us a superior mobility tool. I'd like to do some framing and see how it does. Robb
So I saw this on amazon I'm not sure if it is the same tool or not as it has a different model number, but the description is 18V x 2 for the battery. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HHZ029U
Javier
I'd like to see a tool fight between this and the m18 fuel to see if there's an advantage in runtime and power
abimarssani
Is this the same makita circular saw,but the price is below $200 on amazon now...
NicholasShetley
That is the 18 volt version.
dwain
its really not much more than the FUEL circ saw right? considering the power you get, doesn't seem fair to criticise its cost that much, especially for those who are already on the platform with plenty of batts ... seems pretty innovative to allow 18V users a 36V 7-1/4" circ saw ... Robb
Amazon has the kit with charger and two batteries for $421.95. not too bad a price considering what you get.http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003V5H8LU/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
opcruzer
If you have all of the batteries already which is most of who is going to buy the saw, then the tool only price is almost the same as the M18 fuel saw in tool only and as other reviewers have stated the savings combined with the blade options in 7.25" makes the Makita saw better in the long run. http://toolguyd.com/makita-18v-x2-circular-saw-xsh01z/review that compares the two http://www.coptool.com/milwaukee-m18-fuel-vs-makita-18vx2-cordless-circular-saw-showdown/another review comparing the two I really want this new Makita saw but I already have the fuel circ saw and really like it and I have an older Makita lxt 18v circ saw. DR99
The lighter weight of the M18 fuel is pretty substantial though at 2 pounds. Like everything it comes down to which battery system you have bought into. I don't think this is going to get many non Makita guys to make the jump into the brand just for this tool. Full size 7-1/4 blade is a huge step in the right direction. I wonder what the power difference is between the Fuel and X2.

Javier
That coptool article is really good. That's crazy how the x2 can cut a 4x4 in a single pass. When I still had a corded saw it couldn't do that. I had to flip the 4x4 and cut both sides
dwain
i dont believe it, it has to be a typo. my 9-1/4" electric Makita can't make it through 3". half of a 7-1/4" blade is still less than 4", and that doesn't take the arbor into account, or the fact that the blade isn't mounted to the base plate. Krane
I played with the X2 circ saw the other day at a store. It had some power, that's for sure. It was also very smooth, easy to make cuts. The electric brake was real nice. Interesting read from COPtool.
