tooluser
Depends on the region, you can try to look for promos or buy used tools of the brands that you can cheaply get spare parts then in case something will break, you will easily fix this on your own. fm2176
I can only speak for my experiences in the Southeast US, but I amassed many of my tools by combing through various Home Depot and Lowes stores. Both will have good clearance prices at times, though they seem to have fallen off over the past 5-6 years. Between 2016-2018 or so, I was finding post-holiday bundles and other tools for as much as 75% off at HD, plus additional 10% discount. A few examples are my M18 Fuel rotary hammer for under $70, M18 Fuel One Key combo kit for $112.50, and FlexVolt 12" SCMS for $360. Lowes had some good clearance deals on Bosch and Metabo HPT. The "Buy This, Get That" type deals are good too. Here in the States, Ryobi is a decent budget brand, and each spring they offer Ryobi Days, where you buy a battery starter kit with charger and get a free tool. Depending on the value of the tool, you can essentially save 50%. The starter kits cost $99 (more recently they have a premium starter kit for $199), and the free tools depend on the kit you buy. Last year, I bought the premium kit and got the $200 pet stick vacuum free. The very first Ryobi tool I got was the pole saw, which cost $129 at the time but was free with the regular kit (which came with 3Ah HP batteries that year, IIRC).
