kc4i
Hello Forum Members. I have a battery/battery charger issue. I am trying to determine if the charger is bad, my batteries are bad, or if both are bad, or if Hitachi chargers just don't charge "other brand' aftermarket batteries held out as proper replacements on Amazon and eBay. Recently I bought a Hitachi drill on eBay. I tested the drill with a power supply and clip leads. It works fine, just needs a charged battery. The drill came without a charger, but with an 18V BCL1815 Lithium Hitachi battery attached. That battery is either discharged or dead. I also ordered a new aftermarket battery BCL1815/EBM1830 for the drill from eBay, and a HItachi 18YRL battery charger from Amazon. The charger will not charge the new aftermarket battery, nor will it charge the battery that came attached to the drill. Do any of you have the Hitachi 18YRL battery charger? Does it require Hitachi ONLY batteries? I'm trying to decide whether to ask for another charger, order another battery or just what. Your opinion and guidance in this will be appreciated more than a little. Eric - TIA
I am guessing it's the charger I have gone through three chargers and they keep dying.
kc4i
Thank you, Eric. I'm guessing the same. I will try another charger and see if that helps. Henry
kc4i
Hello Forum. It turned out that the new battery was defective and the battery supplied with the drill was also defective. Changing the charger did not help. Two more new aftermarket batteries ordered from another source, and all is working as it should.
