Broderbund Posted October 27, 2024 Report Posted October 27, 2024 Ryobi 2900/2.5 GPM ……air filter, carburetor, spark plug and new Ryobi hose all recently replaced to try and address the issue. Oil changed and full of gas. Used yesterday and ran without issue…..today the issue returned. Runs for 3 -5 minutes and then shuts down. Driving me nuts!!…..any ideas?
Eric - TIA Posted October 28, 2024 Report Posted October 28, 2024 How old is your gas? I had an older lawnmower and had the same issue. I took it all apart, replaced everything I could and still had issues. Took it to get it looked at, which cost $105 just to find out it was bad gas. I bought the gas at the beginning of the season and by the time the end of the season was here, the gas was bad. Two strokes don't get hot enough to burn older gas like a car can.

Sounds like possibly the coil going bad. When it shuts down can you start it tight back up?
ThomasB Posted June 2 Report Posted June 2 I have a similar issue but, it'll run for about 10 minutes then stop. I verified oil levels and that the air filter is good. Right after it stalls, I have a very difficult time pulling he handle to restart it. I have to wait at least 15 minutes before I can start it again.
