DEWALT® Unveils Solid Rock Carbide™ SDS Plus Bit with the Durability, Life and Speed Users Demand

TOWSON, Md. (Jan. 20, 2011)

Today, DEWALT announces the launch of its full line of SOLID ROCK CARBIDEâ„¢ SDS Plus Bits. The bits are designed for mechanical and general contractors, electricians, forming and tilt wall contractors, glaziers and other professionals who are tasked with drilling holes in hard concrete, reinforced concrete, block and pan decking. For durability and long bit life, the bits are manufactured using an innovative bonding system to affix the solid rock carbide tip to the flute. Additionally, the head of the bit features two times more carbide than traditional bits to ensure the product can withstand daily jobsite abuse.

“We spent countless hours talking to end users about their frustrations with SDS Plus Bits, and inadequate bit life and lack of durability were the top concerns,†said Maurice LaPointe, product manager, D EWALT. “We addressed those concerns with the launch of our Solid Rock Carbide product, which further proves our commitment to providing contractors with long-lasting accessories that can stand up to the tough applications.â€

The four-flute bit design provides two main advantages for end users that help to increase jobsite productivity. First, the new design strengthens the product to help to reduce breakage when drilling into concrete. Second, the separate channels created by the four-flute design are optimal for debris removal and provide fast drilling speed.

The SDS Plus Bits will be available anywhere DEWALT products are sold beginning in January 2011.
