kanxrus
DEWALT® Launches New 7â€/9†Variable Speed Polishers with Improved Ergonomics and Control* TOWSON, Md. (March 30, 2011) – Today, DEWALT announces the launch of its two new 7â€/9†Variable Speed Polishers (DWP849X and DWP849). Their new designs are lighter than their predecessor and deliver the power and speed control necessary for use on a variety of materials, ranging from cars and boats to metal and concrete surfaces. The DWP849X and DWP849 are ideal for, but not limited to, automotive detailers, paint specialists, metal fabricators and finishers. “Research showed the need for a polisher that allows users to perform difficult jobs with as much speed control as possible,†said Kirk Reimer, product manager, DEWALT. “Our new 7â€/9†Variable Speed Polishers offer professionals a combination of power and speed control that other units on the market do not offer.†The DWP849X and DWP849 feature a powerful 12 AMP motor and a variable speed dial that delivers 0-600/0-3,500 RPM, giving users the power and speed they need for tough applications. In addition to the speed dial, the variable speed trigger allows users to further control the speed from zero to the specified maximum setting (600 to 3,500 RPM). The DWP849X offers several additional upgrades to the DWP849 that result in greater control, comfort and durability. The DWP849X includes the (CFS) Controlled Finishing System® with soft start to give users improved speed control and finish quality. In addition to the traditional straight side handle, the DWP849X comes with a three-position bale handle for multiple gripping options. It also offers an ergonomically sculpted rear handle with rubber overmold, as well as a non-marring rubber gear case cover which helps to reduce the chance of finish scuffs or scratches. The ergonomic two-finger trigger helps to reduce user fatigue by accommodating a range of finger positions for professionals using the tool over an extended period of time; all of these features provide improved comfort and speed control compared to traditional polishers. The hook and loop backing pad, which is included with the DWP849X, allows for quick, tool-free accessory changes. Hook and loop accessories available on the market are compatible with the unit, giving users the option to choose the accessory that will provide the appropriate finish quality, depending on the application. Contributing to the durability of the DWP849X are the wool ingestion shields covering the air intake. These shields help to eliminate wool and debris ingestion, increasing the life the tool. Both 7â€/9†Variable Speed Polishers will be priced competitively, and they will be available through independent construction and automotive distributors, as well as online, in May 2011. Both tools will come standard with a three-year limited warranty, one-year free service contract and 90-day money-back guarantee. For more information visit: Dewalt.com.
