My tools / ToughSystem Racking

Neat.  So there will be brackets attached to the rails and the cases slide into the brackets?  I assume that the brackets are adjustable to accommodate the different heights of the cases and there will be ultimately 3 banks of cases.  That's a lot of cases!  Will look like a bank's safety deposit vault.

Yes, the brackets (from DeWALT) will go onto these rails and the cases slide onto the brackets.

Similar to the Toughsystem trolley.

I drilled holes on the back of the rails with 25mm between every hole. This is for the height adjustment.

The brackets have a little pin inside which slide into the drilled hole. This is for easy height adjustment. Then you tighten the bolt on the bracket. Yep, 3 banks of cases. Quite some cases, but I have a lot of stuff to carry around.

Thanks Deshi. Same here. I wish we had some of the US stuff here.

This is the current status. I ordered some more cases but will have to wait till next week untill I get them.

Then I can finish the rack and sort everything.

It works great and can really recommend it. Even for home or shop use. Put some rails up on the wall and mount some brackets. They hold up well :)

as soon as i see the tough system i had that idea, you really have inspired me now to do this. just got to try and warrant the cost now.

how are you finding the cases? i want to move all my routers ect into case but my only consern is the lack of inserts in the cases. does anyone know if dewalt will be bringing out inserts?

Thanks for the nice comments! This coming wednesday DeWALT will pay a visit. They are also gonna take pictures of my "toughrack".

@ Dano

They are great. Really, they are very strong and are very well build. I've literally jumped on them to test it out.

Not a single cracking noise or such. I really like the seal around the lid which keeps dust and water away from the tools. Also the system with the brackets is great. At first I was skeptical if they would hold up well due to the forces on them while driving. Especially on bumpy roads and fast braking/cornering. I've checked it multiple times, but they hold up very well.

As for inserts. I've got the premium XR 18v XRP hammerdrill which came in a toughcase. It had a foam inlay, which is nice, but I removed it to make room for more accessories. Some 18v XR combokits come in a toughcase with plastic inlay which is really nice. So I think DeWALT will eventually come up with more inserts.

It was a nice visit. Learned some more about the company.
The end user specialist had a really nice van too. Not so much for the racking as his interior suits a different purpose, but the van was fully equiped with all the latest DeWALT tools. He demonstrated the new DW089k crossline laser. They also took pictures of my van and the rack.
All in all it was really nice to meet them and because I was the 1st to make use of the Toughsystem in a van, DeWALT / StanleyBlack&Decker gave me these tools and a lot of goodies.

Yeah, it's the telescopic pole DE0882 for the laser. Very nice improvement over the older model

Well, actually I had 1 empty case already reserved for the DCF885 Impact driver as it was on top of my wishlist. So that's no problem ;)

The laser will stay in the case it came in as it fits perfectly and putting it in a toughcase without any insert would mean it would bounce around while driving. Not recommended. Maybe if I could make a foam insert for it...

A system is in the works actually. I think both for vans and for wall mounting.

Maybe next year we will see something. This year was the initial launch and now they can build upon the system. I am extremely happy with it. Even though it's quite an investment if you make the change at once like I did. You could always do it in steps ofcourse.

If you are gonna build a system, keep us informed about the progress. I'd love to see how others put it to use.

At this time I only own one Dewalt tool, but this tool is very handy and I bought this item at my local Home Depot.  I Dewalt DW20646  Impact Ready Magnetic Bit Holder.  I took several pictures of them, but please bare with me as I am still somewhat new to posting pictures in a forum setting.  In fact this would be the first time I would post a picture on  forum, so I am still not sure how exactly to do that.  I'll learn soon, but for now it will have to wait until I learn.

I would like the DE0882 laser pole but Dewalt does not offer that here. Nor does Stanley.

Seems like a gap in the line. I recently bought a Bosch telescoping laser pole but would have got the Dewalt had it been available.

It's not an uncommon accessory. Even Stanley offers one here in EU.

Wonder why DeWALT doesn't offer this in the US. I'm sure you could get it from eBay, but with shipping and taxes it might be a bit too much.

@ Steve1616. A DeWALT powertool in one hand, a beautiful girl in the other ;D
