HDClown
Time has come for me to get a table saw. I have always been under the assumption that I would want a portable/job-site like saw, simply for the fact that I don't want to take up a lot of room for a saw in my garage, and I want it to be easy to move around the garage, setup/takedown, etc. This is for around the home stuff, very light weight use. Cut some 2x4's, plywood, 1/2-3/4" shelf board, etc. I do this stuff with jigsaw/circular saw today, and it's never very precise, so I want something I can be more precise with. Obviously, I am looking at DeWalt, and the DW745 is at a price point I am comfortable with ($350 ). I would potentially add the DW7450 stand to it ($70), but now I'm close to the DW744X price. I really know nothing about table saws, so I'm hoping someone can point me into the smart decision. The saw doesn't have to be DeWALT either, especially if something is simply better for the money. kjones
It comes down to two things: would you want to use a dado blade, and do you need a rip capacity of greater than 16.5". If either of those answer's is "yes", than you should get the DW744. If "no", than the 745 is an excellent saw.
