CTDiesel
Sad, why? The old line, as far as I know, is still being manufactured and supported.
kjones
Sad, why? The old line, as far as I know, is still being manufactured and supported. exactly. And there are no intentions/plans to stop doing so. If you prefer 18v, than keep using it.
ediaz
sad, because we see how this ends... The old system are replaced by the new system, if are possible no compatibility, and after of two yeas trow all you battery for the "new" system.. The best at all is that the new system are the SAME, it is only a change of format....
kjones
You are 100% wrong. I understand that you are hesitant to believe this, but do not propagate your misinformation as fact. DeWALT has nothing to gain by getting rid of the 18v line, and will not force it out of the market. Someday the 18v line may go away, but it will be because the market has stopped buying it, not because DeWALT forces it out.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but after the endless responses from DeWALT regarding their commitment to the 18v platform, it seems like it is time for statements and conjectures like these to end. kanxrus
I may post up a DCD970KL vs the newer DCD985L2 in the near future. Just a simple runtime test, this time around maybe I will use different size bit's, and maybe add in some concrete drilling into one simple runtime test.
