DW304 just stopped working

I'm struggling to diagnose why my '304 just stopped working.

I just read a great post by "Hydro" relating to replacing a faulty triac, but am unsure how to determine if this component is bad on my own saw. I have voltage downstream of the triac (on the "tongue" that the triac sits on), so maybe this isn't my problem.

My brushes are in good condition, I have voltage to the connectors that exit from the handle assembly, and everything looks clean and 'roadworthy'..... but the saw is just completely dead. It died right in the middle of cutting a very modestly sized piece of wood.

Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions that anyone may have.

Dave

Thanks so much for the diagrams - I'll use them to work through each component at the weekend. There has to be a point where I'm losing juice and having the wiring schematics will hopefully help me find out what's going on.

Thanks again for the post.
