DC970 Power Drill - Problem with Small Drill Bits

First post here.

I got a DC970 DeWalt Power Drill in October, 2013 off of amazon.com.  Today I was using it to drill smaller holes in a power frame for pull ups (hanging a new pull up bar) and the chuck lost grip on a 1/8th inch drill bit, but kept spinning.

This ended up carving a small rounded notch in the three arms of the chuck and now the chuck will not hold any smaller bits.

I only tightened the chuck by hand as instructed in the manual.

Obviously, I'm still under warranty, does this require maintenance or is there anything I can do to fix it?
