tommyc325
Hi Everyone I just purchased a DW745 Table Saw. Im excited to use it but also scared shitless. Obviously I wanna be as safe as I can. My question is if I have the blade guard on I am unable to lower the blade to the IDEAL position to cut my piece of wood... I know its best to have the blade no more then a 1/2 inch above the wood you are cutting. So I guess im wondering if I should take the blade guard off so i have the ideal height or if I should leave the guard on even though the blade will be about a inch / inch and half above the wood. Please let me know your thoughts.
Gatorb8881393434512
You should be able to adjust the riving knife (the part the guard attaches to) up and down. Thus increasing or decreasing the height of the guard relative to the blade. Take a look, I may be wrong but I remember their being a couple positions. Gatorb8881393434512
As an employee of the company I will always suggest you leave the guard on the saw.
Brett11
Any further update on this topic? I just got the dw745 and I'm equally intimidated. The blade guard (pawls, knives) seem to be a little different than what I expected. They dig into the plate while adjusting the blade height. I wanted to keep the blade at the minimum safe height, but the pawls keep it at a pretty tall height. Is there an adjustment that I'm missing? Also, the manual states that the blade guard assembly will be parallel to the table when installed properly. However, mine won't get down that far, and I don't want to force anything. The display model at the store looked like mine, which makes me feel a little better...but not much. Thanks for any info
