goodski
I have an older dewalt. The drill chuck will not hold drill bits in the reverse. My hope is to fix the chuck I have if possible. It sounds normal closing the chuck but it won't lock and opening the chuck makes a grinding noise. I have been able to get the chuck off but I need the procedure for re-installing the chuck as it doesn't have a set screw on this version. any in site will be appreciated. Sorry if this has already been covered I searched but came up empty
Gatorb8881393434512
So you bought another chuck that is different from the original? If there is no screw then the whole chuck should screw onto the body. Possibly reverse threaded.
goodski
I haven't yet bought a new chuck I wanted to see first if the old chuck is fixable. When it is reinstalled do i need to put lock tight or something like that to keep the chuck from unscrewing itself?
Gatorb8881393434512
No, it shouldn't require lock tight.
