Kavery17
I'm curious to know what are some good starter kit drill bits to buy? I'm a weekend DYI person and use the Ryobi 18v drill and impact driver. When I was in Home Depot there were several different kits to buy and I didn't want to buy one full of a bunch of useless bits. I will be mostly working with wood and doing a few cable wire installs on the house to hide the wires in the wall. Will I be fine with Ryobi drill bits or should I go with a different brand? DR99
I have had good luck with the Dewalt Pilot point bits they are a little easier to start, but to be honest they are a consumable item unless you invest in some really quality bits which I won't do because I always end up losing a bit in the set. The Ryobi bits should be fine for what your doing.
Javier
Protoolreviews gave kobalt bits commendation for best bang for the buck. Right next to dewalt impact bits. All bits were tested for impact use so you know they're good.
Conductor562
I like Milwaukee Thunderbolts bits for general purpose use. A 21 piece set is $19.99 at HD. They do well in various materials. Dewalt's Pilot points are nice bits, but the points won't hold up in thicker steel (1/4" +)
Northern Rebel
They all make good kits these days in my opinion. Milwaukee, dewalt, ridgid, ryobi, makita.

chadlanthier
I've used the ryobi drill bits, they are definitely disposable. But I've also used the dewalt and they don't seem to hold the point.
Bigmikez
I started off on dewalt black impact bits which were great to me and sum Milwaukee impact bits which twisted on me but were also pretty good but I really wanna try the Makita gold bits I read a lot of good things about them
TylerDama
the makita gold bits are amazing, the magnetic tip however is junk. the magnetic "sleeve" portion of the tip always falls off.

madman_us
I bought them together with my corded drill (which I mostly use for the kreg jig) and they were on sale. they also came in a nice box
rfwjr
I like the brad point bits when working with wood. I do have a set of Ryobi bits that have worked well so far. I like the fact that if I break one it does not hurt as much (they were cheap).
