John2
Hi,I have a non-variable black & decker jigsaw, how can i slow it down?i'm cutting pvc which melts because of blade speed. There must be a way, of decreasing the current, given to the motor.I can open it up, what do i need to do? Maybe use an external dc or something. Please there must be a simple way of slowing it down.ThanksJohn
Milwaukeetools
I am not sure. Why not just buy a new JS and sell that one.
redsil
Jesus! Why does everybody always say "just buy a new one"? O.K., to slow down this jig saw, just go to Harbor Freight Supply (www.harborfreight.com) and look for a Variable Speed Control. They have them and I've used a bunch of them. Good luck. ToolAuthority
Although both suggestions so far are reasonable and may work just fine for you, another thought is blade selection. Bosch offers a jig saw blade that is made for non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and plastics such as PVC. It is designed in such a way that it is not supposed to “load up” thus reducing the amount of heat created and making quicker cuts.Only $8.75 for a 5-packhttp://www.toolauthority.com/product_in ... ts_id=3545
