BK13 Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 So the GF has a two story house, maybe 10 years old, with squeaky floors. It's bad enough when her 14 year old, 4'11", 100 lb. athlete daughter walks across them, but when my 330 lb.-ish, former offensive lineman butt limps across, it's really bad....She already wants to install new carpets, so that's a help, but what else is involved in stopping the squeaking? And yes, I do view this as an opportunity to buy new tools... Track saw, anyone? Maybe M18 impact driver?LOL 1
madman_us Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 first I would fasten the floor boards, that they stop squeaking
DR99 Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 Here is a ask this old house to fix squeeky floors for carpeting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gUW-IhSMBc Here is the fix for hardwood floors https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iAseVZZKlY 1
Swaglosrevival Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 If its the second story floor you won't be able fasten the floor boards from underneath. But they make a screw with trim heads that you could use to fasten them from the top.if possible pre drill your hole and try to squeeze some glue down before you screw it.
BK13 Posted October 12, 2014 Author Report Posted October 12, 2014 Thanks, fellas. The upper floor is worse, but they both squeak.
BK13 Posted October 12, 2014 Author Report Posted October 12, 2014 Here is a ask this old house to fix squeeky floors for carpeting You are the man!
BK13 Posted October 12, 2014 Author Report Posted October 12, 2014 There goes the excuse for the tracksaw, though. 1
madman_us Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 @bddhome: why would you fasten the floorboards from underneath? I would just use some screws and fasten the boards down, he said they put carpet on it anyways I seen the vids from the old house as well to repair squeaky floor, good method. @ BK13: u can still say you need a tracksaw, because some boards are damage and need to be replaced
BK13 Posted October 12, 2014 Author Report Posted October 12, 2014 @ BK13: u can still say you need a tracksaw, because some boards are damage and need to be replaced Nice try, but if the carpet doesn't come up, it might be a hard sell for a new saw to replace boards that were never exposed. For what a TS55 costs, she could buy herself some Christian Louboutin CFM pumps. Almost. Hard to say if I would enjoy the tracksaw or watching her walk in ridiculously expensive shoes more... Particularly if she's, uh, footing the bill... (sorry for the pun)
BK13 Posted October 12, 2014 Author Report Posted October 12, 2014 I might be able to get an M18 2797-22 combo out of the deal... 2
DR99 Posted October 12, 2014 Report Posted October 12, 2014 I do like a woman wearing CFM heels though, but I also love new power tools You have a tough decision BK13 The Milwaukee Fuel kit not bad either 1
Swaglosrevival Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 @madman_us sorry I may have worded wrong. Glue is a big help with stopping squeaky floor and I was saying he wouldn't be able to use glue as part of a faster from underneath (unless he take a hammer to the ceilings) the boards.
Conductor562 Posted October 15, 2014 Report Posted October 15, 2014 Go with the tools man. She looks best naked anyway
BK13 Posted October 15, 2014 Author Report Posted October 15, 2014 Go with the tools man. She looks best naked anywayNaked with 4.75" heels? I dunno, man...
Conductor562 Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 Naked with 4.75" heels? I dunno, man...Naked with a new M18 impact? It's a tough decision I suppose, but when in doubt, go with the tools. 1
