DR99
Is it worth buying a wood chipper for a one time project? Does you city have curbside yard waste pickup? I also don't like wood chippers though too after hearing about incidents.
chadlanthier
Maybe the trees are an excuse. The real reason he's asking is because he needs to get rid of a body or two. Since he is able to buy a wood chipper, maybe it's his significant other. Lol
madman_us
its prolly not a 1-time use, those fukers grow like shit
DR99
Oh I read that wrong I though you were removing the trees. Are you looking at gas or electric? Electric would be better with a something that is not going to be used regularly.
DR99
You could get something like this a chipper/yard vac at least you get a dual use out of it http://www.lowes.com/pd_269672-270-24A-202J766_4294612683__?productId=50223595&Ns=p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&facetInfo=
madman_us
ya I have to trim them every year to keep them low. I think electric would be better for that because I just use it once a year or maybe here in there when I have to do something in my yard

DR99
Just looked at the Bosch units and they are pretty freaking nice Too bad they use different voltages in Europe.

madman_us
I was looking at the Eco Shredder from home depot, Model# ES1600.it also looks a bit more sturdier, but also cost about $50 more
DR99
The Sun Joe will handle the largest diameter branches though its not much in reality a 1/4 inch. I have two Sun Joe products so I'm comfortable with the brand. I have an electric rototiller and lawn thatcher. Tools you don't use often. Scoszko
I've got an older (10+ years) craftsman 5hp chipper/shredder that works good. It has a side for leaf mulching and another input for larger branches. It's insanely loud, but it does the job. You can find them on craigslist for $100-$200. Branches with a lot of bends need to be cut short or they won't fit down the chute.
madman_us
Ya i changed my mind. The cut offs from my pruning project are way too much. So atm im loading the truck with all the branches and leaves. Gonna dump them at our local landfill site
