so I got one of these Milwaukee power source units to be able to use my M18 batteries in my hoodie, the unit comes equipped with a 5V USB port with an on and off switch, so I figured lets see how a 5V USB LED light with a flexible arm would work......and bingo.........

I've read that the power output is pretty low so charging cell phones and the like can take quite a while. Maybe nice to have while outdoors and it's in $30"

  1. ya $29..... ya it is slower than an outlet however I guess it could help in a pinch......the other thing I noticed it will eat a battery if a battery is left attached even with nothing plugged in..........

Okay that makes sense. I've really been wanting to get one of these as Milwaukee is the only battery source I use outside of my Festool line. I've been waiting to get the 4.0 but am curious if the new batteries will end up lasting longer with that type of Ah output.

don't get me wrong I have used it with the slim 2.0 and the 4.0 batteries just found it odd if I leave a battery connected it drains just sitting there, unlike any of my drills/drivers they can have a battery on it for days and no battery power loss.......or enough to notice.....

I wonder if this is the same with the dewalt power source we use ours a lot and both wifey and me can charge our phones with one 3.0ah battery but I have noticed the battery will drain a lil faster lately

I think it has 2.1 amps output so if your cell phone requires less amps to charge it will charge at full speed. Like my cell charges in about 1.1 amps so it gets charged just as fast as getting plugged into the wall charger. It won't charge anything faster than what your cell phone charges at if it requires less amps than 2.1 , if it did the battery would explode probably. If your mobile device like let's say a tablet requires more than 2.1 amps to charge it will still charge it just maxed out at 2.1 amps so it won't be as fast at the wall charger if your wall charger is 3-4 amps for example.

Javier is correct, they are 2.1A output so it's speed depends on your phones charger. It's almost twice as fast as the standard iPhone charger and I believe the same speed as the iPad charger. It's slightly higher than the 2.0A of my work phone charger (a brick called a Samsung note 3). I have the m12 and m18 power source and think they are very handy to have around.

Javier, I believe my iPhone does charge faster off an iPad charger or my power source than the wall outlet it comes with, but I could be mistaken. The battery definitely feels warmer when using the other chargers, which I would think is a byproduct of a faster charge.
