Jason Snyder
i would love to see a 40v concrete saw to go along with the 40v line coming this spring. similar to this http://www.stihl.com/STIHL-power-tools-A-great-range/STIHL-Cordless-Power-System/01563/Cordless-cut-off-machines.aspx

chadlanthier
As tools advance, other companies tend to jump on the bandwagon. So it may not be far off.
KRK
I would be curious if this 40 volt line will add to/replace the 36 volt tool line. Thoughts?
Duns221
I would be curious if this 40 volt line will add to/replace the 36 volt tool line. Thoughts?i think the 40 volt line will be strictly outdoor power equipment
chadlanthier
Ahh, to sit and dream about new tools. Let's hope when they come out, that they don't dissappoint us.
Bigmikez
anyone heard of a release date yet?
Kenneth Denmark
I don't think it is possible with type of battery we got right know.. It will use a lot of power and a battery time of let's say 3 mins is okay..But maybe we are working on some new battery types.. We will see
dwain
Does anyone else assume that 40V MAX is just 36V updated with higher Ah cells and an updated case? In the 18V update to 20V Max, the 20V Max updated from a pod style to slide batteries. 40V Max doesn't seem to be much of an update at all....
DR99
Its probably 36v nominal like all of the 40v tools. This whole max voltage bs kinda sucks I bet it will be marketed differently in other markets with the nominal voltage not the max. It would be nice if they offered some other tools besides outdoor power equipment on this battery platform.
Mr. Yellow
Does anyone else assume that 40V MAX is just 36V updated with higher Ah cells and an updated case? Yeah, I bet 40V Max is just 36V, just like 20V Max is in reality 18V. Think it's just to make a distinct difference between the 36V powertool line and the 36V outdoor power equipment. I'd wish they just deleted the old 36V line and went with the new one for both OPE and powertools, but seeing they released new batteries and a rotary hammer in the 36V line not too long ago, the current line isn't going anywhere.... The 40V batteries are looking good.
DR99
You never know it would be better for Dewalt to move on and support more tools with this new platform. In reality how many 36v construction tools do you need now? The two big ones I can think of off hand are SDS rotohammers circular saw's and recip saws a cordless track sawwouldn't be bad either. The only problem was their first one was a huge flop for Dewalt I don't think drills or impact wrenches would benefit as much with extra weight. That's just my thoughts on high voltage tools. chadlanthier
I think a 40v jigsaw would be awesome, but probably won't happen because of weight. But those jigsaws suck up the juice.
Javier
this would be great and makes sense
dwain
i think they should have just updated the 36v battery with gauges, cells etc, but kept the connection the same. that way the 36V users could benefit from these awesome new batteries, and garden users could make use of the 36V power tool line... Javier
I wonder if the battery change is due to smarty electronics in the tool and battery that communicate with each other. I believe that was a good reason for the change from 18v xrp to 20v max batteries
dwain
How old are the 36V slide lithiums though? I think they're just doing market saturation....
Mr. Yellow
Well, they were updated this year actually and there are 2 models now; The DCB360 (4.0Ah) and DCB361 (2.0Ah).
