TylerDama Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Hey all in hunting for a crescent wrench (10-12inch) but would prefer to find one made in America(the"crescent" brand I saw was made in China) .any help would be grateful!
NicholasShetley Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 I have a non click stop proto crescent wrench that has worked good so far. It doesn't flop around or loosen up any.
Conductor562 Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 I have the Clik-Stop Proto's in 6, 8, 10, 12, and 15". Naturally, I love them. They are made by Western Forge and you can actually get the same wrench (minus the Clik-Stop feature) from a number of other brands including SK and Craftsman. The Clik-Stop feature is exclusive to the Proto line, but the standard wrenches are sold under at least 10 different brands. Here's the Clik-Stop review: http://professional-power-tool-guide.com/2014/08/proto-clik-stop-adjustable-wrenches/
NERemodeling Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 i dont know if this helps at all but figured it couldnt hurt.. http://toolguyd.com/crescent-adjustable-wrenches-made-in-usa/
NERemodeling Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 also not sure if your set on USA or just trying to avoid china.. Irega makes some bitchin adjustable wrenches, thats actually the only thing they make.. they are made in Spain ive gotten a few of the smaller ones off chadstoolbox.com and am very happy with them although i have never used anything like the protos or other high end US offeringshttp://chadstoolbox.com/irega-adjustable-wrench.aspx
Nordraw Posted January 10, 2015 Report Posted January 10, 2015 Crescent is one of those brands that has become to mean something other then what it is. Say Crescent and people think adjustable wrench, not the brand. Like "Kleneex" which people associate as Tissue not a brand. You know you have made it when that happens.
Conductor562 Posted January 11, 2015 Report Posted January 11, 2015 Crescent is another formerly decent brand ruined at the hands of Apex. The Spanish Irega wrenches are excellent wrenches. Probably better overall than the domestic offerings these days
