Lighter weight and improved balance - comfortable 387~2,3 kg vs 380 ~2,7 kg.

The 387 got LED to improve visibility of cut , the 380 no light.

387 got a compact 4 pole motor delivers power without compromising ergonomics vs 380 got 2 pole motor.

Something to consider, I have the dcs380, (it's pretty new and I've not used it a lot so keep that in mind). And, I have not used the dcs387.

One of the spec differences that I noticed is the blade shoe is extendable on the dcs380 and it's fixed on the dcs387.

Like I mentioned I haven't used this feature a lot on this saw, but I used it quite a bit on my Porter Cable TigerSaw and think I would miss it on the cordless when using longer blades in tough metal  applications.
