I didn't check the battery, but it was fine after I put the same battery back in and turned it on. The Toughsystem played fine while the DCR017 didn't pick up any signal. Even FM. Same station. Toughsystem playing fine, DCR all noisy. Everytime I turn it on it's a joy to listen to. Sold my DCR.
