Dang looks like there's not enough clearance for the outlet cover, I hate cutting them than there not symmetrical :/Yes, I screwed that up. I had a brainfart when I set the box. I just eye balled it and it came back to haunt meI've already cut the plate so it fits. I'm just waiting for the paInt on it to dry. I painted it the same color as the door hardware so it matches. I need to change the outlet as well. It's currently almond but it needs to be white. Probably have about half a day left between the paint and the other items before we can call it done. Just finished the shoe molding about an hour ago.

It has been fun following your project sad to see it almost done, I'm sure your happy that its almost done..lol
JimboS1ice
Justin my favorite is when you drywall a room and the outlets are all on different measurements lol, that would drive me nuts! Talk about mucking up a DIY job.
99_XC600
That box will fit in with the rest of the house. I think the electrician who originally wired the house hated children since most of the switches are 60" or more from the floor and the outlets are all over the place. Lol

LolReally looks good, I know what you mean. My old house has outlets all over the place from 8" - 18" and my baseboards are 10" so yeah had to get creative with the cuts lol. Like the way the colors play against one another. Thanks for sharing.

99_XC600
I think I'm ready to call this project done. Spent today doing all of the final paint, threshold in the bathroom and installing cordless cellular shades. The shades were expensive, $215, I almost choked at the register when I bought them. Only thing that's left is to order the table and continue the flooring into the kitchen, (That's the reason for the painters tape and wax paper it's covering the adhesive strip). Thanks to the crew for all of the advice and kind words. It's been great to have everyone's feedback as I worked through it.
KnarlyCarl
Love all the windows, looks very nice. Those shades do get stinkin pricey I know what you meanSent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

99_XC600
Yes, when the total came up I thought they scanned in too many. It's crazy what they charge for these things. My wife likes them so I told her happy Valentine's Day. Lol

99_XC600
Thanks Mike! It was a good winter project. Now I can collect all the tools that have been laying around in the entryway and put them back into the garage. LOL
comp56
ya it's funny how while you are doing the job tools can be left all around but the minute the job is declared finished, tools are no longer allowed in the area........its like they are shunned.....

overanalyze
Just read through this topic. Nice job!! What a huge transformation. I like the shelf detail you did. Fits well with the space.
99_XC600
Will do on the flooring. We've decided to paint the kitchen before we put the flooring down. No sense worrying about paint splatter if we don't have too. So I'll be prepping the space on Saturday and hopefully be painting by Sunday. The kitchen is going to be a PIA. since there are 6 doors and 2 windows along with the cabinets. Wood work is all stained and will not be painted. So needless to say lot of taping and cutting in will be done. I'm not looking forward to it. As far as the tools. The mess has been transplanted into the garage. Nothing has been put away yet. I need a bigger garage. lol
99_XC600
The past 5 weeks have been busy since we decided to continue into the kitchen with the flooring. We also painted the kitchen as well. I think we spent more time on prep and atoning for my previous DIY sins in this room than actual painting the room. I believe we finally achieved the 100% completion mark on this project. Even managed to score a almost perfect pub table from CL for $275 and had our first meal in the sunroom tonight. It felt pretty good to sit in the leather chairs and eat some leftover pizza.
KnarlyCarl
That's a lot of work especially since you're living in it as well with a family. I would dread to think of gutting my kitchen now that I have a family, when it was just me, I was cool washing dishes in the bathroom sink lol while I worked in the kitchen. But as you know its worth it (I hope it was to you) Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
