How do you not notice this

I'm not that good at remembering to take pictures of my work or things that I'am fixing. I always forget or I just get busy and start working then when I'm done I'm like I should have took a before picture. This was a small job just hang up a bunch of lights and fix some violations. I came across this fan which was installed wrong in every way and it did not have a proper fan box. So I start taking the fan apart and I notice the neutral wire is pinched between the down rod and the motor bracket and just hanging out. I don't know how you do not notice this during install, all the weight of the fan was sitting on the wire and close to shorting out

when I put up a 72" ceiling fan in our living room.....no lights just blades, it came with about 8 feet of extra wire? how is that even going to fit in that little cap if you didn't want to snip the wires to length....

I hate doing ceiling fans they are so awkward to work on by yourself. You really need a 3rd hand installing them!!!

Hanging up fixtures suck, they take forever and if you forget to put one part on a fan you have to take it all down and put it up again. Some fans can take over an hour to hang up and when it comes to big expensive chandeliers forget about it.

I dont see nothing. Lol

There's an orange wire nut sticking out. I can't tell if your being sarcastic or not..lol

You have no choice sometimes but to cut it, I have the same problem when it comes to chandeliers people really don't want me to cut the wire. On the last one I did I got creative, it is not code approved but it works. I just take a knock out off the box put a plastic connector on it and stuff the extra wire in the attic :)
