Conductor562
History Channel did a Modern Marvels about the General Electric locomotive plant in Erie, PA. EMD which was the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors owned the market for basically the entire diesel era until just a few years ago. Like everything GM touches, they got shitty and problematical. GE moved in and now they're by far the most common. I don't even remember the last new EMD we got. GM sold off the locomotive division and I haven't heard them mentioned since. Better that way I guess. You go up to get on your train and realize you have an EMD in the lead and you feel like your dog just died.
Eric - TIA
I never knew GM worked with train engines. I always thought it was GE. Shows what I know.
