  1. Any tried the new Milwaukee M18 or M12. I need to get a new set, something I can keep around the house. I like the V28 items, but wanted to get any feedback about the new sets before I just dump money into them.
  2. I used the Festool and it works great. Much quicker and a great cut. Never used the Dewalt. Also I am not sure if Makita has a track system or not. I make a lot of cuts on the roof, so the Festool is very easy to use and not a lot of messing around.
  3. It could be that or the step up bit. Its hard to tell, whatever it is, it looks pretty cool.
  4. A couple of things can help: As noted earlier - Practice. The more you make cuts, the better you will become. Take your time - Don't rush, let the saw do the work. Sometimes slowing things down can give you a better cut. User the right blade for the type of material you are cutting. Using the wrong blade might produce a faster cut, which will cause messed up cuts. Set speed - Set the speed of your saw to the type of material you are cutting. This will also help produce a better cut. Use a jig - Depending upon what type of cut you are making, you can either build a jig or buy a jig. These will help make a perfect cut. Overall take your time and practice. I use to make horriable cuts. They would look like my kid did the cut. After a while I have started to make nice clean cuts, but it does take time.
  5. How old is the Drill? I am sure you tried to recharge the batteries, but always have to ask. Do you know its not the batteries? Have you ruled out that the battery will not hold a charge? Also make sure the charger is not bad. If it is none of these, it might be just a bad motor or bad brushes. I wish I could give you more help, but without seeing it, it can be hard to pin point. In reagrds to your mom getting a new drill. How much does she use it? Dewalt can be heavy because of the metal chuck and other parts on the drill. If she is not beating up the drill, take a look at the Black and Deckers. My mom uses the Black and Decker system and she loves it. They are very light, durable and have other tools for cheap that will use the same battery.
  6. It really depends on what you are using the tools for. Once you decide what you need, that will tell you what to guy. I was looking on this site and saw they will be reviewing the Makita kit soon. I would check out the review to see if you like these tools and take it from there.
  7. I love V28 and use it all the time, so interested to see what power tool guide review is like. If you don't have a use for the V28 power, there is no need to get one. However, I would look at getting the Milwaukee M18. I haven't heard any review yet, so not sure. You can also go with a Nicd battery system as these are a lot cheaper and don't have to worry about battery level when your not using the power tool. There are a lot of place online to get these tools. Just shop around or better yet email the guys here, they seem to know where the good deals are and for what type of power tools.
  8. No those should work. I would be careful. The price for the tool seems pretty high and its a no name tool. One thing you have to watch for with the stuff from China is the material such as the metals they use tends to be very cheap, but they should be ok for a while. You can get better ones at Homedepot or something, I would stay away from the stuff from china
  9. That is awesome. How hard was it to make. This is a thing of beauty. Can you pm me the cad or the video of this. I would love to try this.
  10. Lithium is the way to go. I like the Craftsman better, but other people I know really like Ryobi better. I like the balance on the Craftsman better, which means you arm will not get tired as quick. I owned the 19.2 V Ni-Cad craftsman and loved this combo kit. Never had any problems and I put this tool through a lot. Since he all ready owns craftsman tools, I take it he likes them Therefore, I would stick with the Craftsman.
  11. This is a tough question to answer. All three are great tools, but the Dewalt and Bosch are a closer comparision, while the Hilti you stated is a bigger tool and prorably more expensive. Your not going to go wrong with any of the drills, but the Hilti might be over kill if your not using it everday. If it is between the Bosch and the Dewalt, I like the Bosch. I haven't used one in a while, but when I did, the Bosch seemed nicer, not as hard on my hands. Again this was about 8 years ago, so maybe the drills have changes, I am sure they have.
  12. Wow this is very cool. Our hot water heater is getting ready to go out and was looking at these tankless systems. So I know I will have some questions shortly. Thanks, good to have you around.
  13. Here are a couple funny videos I found on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwchA...eature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvgQS...eature=related Always looking for a good laugh. If you find anymore, let me know.
  14. I saw your posting on the bosch rangefinder, cool. We were on a roof three stories up putting on new singles and my boss broke out his new rangefinder, a bosch. He was braggin about it the day before and telling us great it was. Well as soon as he took it out, his foot slipped and there goes the range finder. It hit the second story and proceeded to tumble down hitting the concrete driveway. Me and the other guy just laughed our butts off because we could see his eyes get big as it tubled away. Anyways we were sure it would be in pieces, but when he got back up on the roof, it was all togheter and still worked. Just had a couple minor scratches on it. One tough tool.
  15. Most of the time if you take your saw blades in to get sharpened, they will clean them also.
