I figured you would be able to tell when you were cutting the laminate before you got to the fence. Like I said I don't know the first thing about working with wood.

may I ask a question out of curiosity, I'm not a wood worker I own a power tool repair shop. Would you be able to glue a piece of laminate to protect the fence from this happening?

I'd be very leary of plugging your die grinder into anything that will reduce the voltage. It will more than likely overheat and burn up. I am not familiar with the HZ that the UK uses. But Inthe US. a 220V tool will run on a 110V at half speed untill it overheats and burns up. There used to be quite a lot of variable voltage construction tools out there. They were designed to be used on the older style genereators that fluctuated with load. I don't know if your grinder has this capability but it will tell you on the name plate.

it probalby needs to be serviced the anvil inside is probably not able to keep up when the hammer is at speed to to the grease being old

keyed chucks can be a pain but if you tighten all three sides rather than just one it will prevent it from loosening
Where can I buy drive belts for a belt sander?

Go to the ASC for your particular brand and you should be able to get it locally as well.
