  1. I just received this planer in the mail today and right out of the box I could tell the front shoe was not flat with the blade and rear shoe. I made a few cuts and at the 1/16" setting it would cut 1/16" on one side and nothing on the other. I looked all over the tool and couldn't find any way to make adjustments.

Does anyone else have any experience with this tool and know of any adjustment I'm not seeing. Any help would be great. Thanks

  2. No. it was a defect. I received a replacement from amazon a few days ago and there was zero wobble. I'm guessing it was one in a million because I've used a dozen dewalt 18 and 20v hammer drills and none of them were nearly this bad.

  3. Yes the chuck and the bit wobble. I actually noticed it before I even put a bit in. I've also used many dewalt drills and have never seen one like this. What do you think would be easier, dealing with amazon returns or contacting dewalt.

  4. I just received this drill through amazon today and the chuck has a descent amount of wobble. Has anyone else had this issue? With a 3" bit the tip of the bit will move about 1/8". That seems like a lot to me.

  5. The dcf895 isn't actually a 3-speed transmission.  It just tones down the power and rpm of the tool electronically.  So the first speed is equivalent to you only pushing the trigger about half way on the third speed.  So if you have an application where your constantly twisting off heads or stripping them out, three speeds may be a good idea.  Other than that this is a great deal. I bought three, kept one impact and all 6 batteries and sold the other 2 impacts as bare tool for $135, basically got 2 4.0 batteries and a charger for $100.

  6. I own both the DCF886(single speed) and the DCF895(3-speed) and I personally like the single speed better.  The variable speed trigger is very smooth so you still have very precise control.  I also haven't been a big fan of the push button chuck on the 3-speed version, it just feels awkward to me, I use the other style on a daily basis so it may not be an issue for you if your not used to anything else.  One thing I know the 3-speed version would be good for though is if you use a lot of blue masonry screws, I tend to twist a lot of those off with the single speed.

  7. I have the same drill an I believe it's just the braking feature that stops the motor when you release the trigger.  I've noticed it really bad when I would have something heavy attached like a paint or mortar mixer.  I don't believe it's anything to worry about though.

  8. A 12v MAX headlamp where the battery attaches in the back would be great.

I would use a headlamp a whole lot more often if I wasn't constantly changing AA or AAA batteries.

Maybe even infrared would be nice.
