[Hammer drill broke in half dw988]

There is a DW988 & a DC988.  Make sure u got the right model #.  The case ("Clamshell") is $12-20 depending on the model & type you have.  It does not come with the 2 stickers ("Dewalt Logo Label" & "Nameplate"), or the screws.

[hammer drill major FAIL]

2 drills now this is getting expensive, DC 988 not brand new but should definitely have lasted longer than they did.

Mine broke the other day.  never dropped , kept indoors in its case and used maybe every 3 months if that. the plastic is a bit brittle.

was drilling holes in the lawn soft clay dirt w/ earth auger in hammer mode, did 29 holes and on the final one caught a rock and torque snapped the handle case in half.

I tried JB weld but broke again the next day.  is the case available to be replaced?
