Did anyone else take advantage of the cyber monday deal at homedepot.com to get the FV mitersaw for $300?  Just the saw and 120V adapter, no batteries (I have 8 FV batteries at this point).  I waited all day, honestly hoping they would sell out....I just dont need the saw.  I dont really want a 12" saw.  My 10" Dewalt slider fits my every need, and i also have the 20V max 7 1/4" slider.  However, by 7pm last night they still werent sold out, and I just couldnt hold off anymore......

Can't believe I missed it!  I was just at my local HD and they have the set still listed at $649.  Waiting patiently for it to drop...

    Thanks,

Depending on the proximity and number of locations near you and your schedule, store visits can result in much better deals.  Factor in the discounts that can be applied to anything not requiring a coupon (special buys and such; two discount codes can't be used), and the deals, while hit or miss, can be spectacular.  My first Milwaukee purchases were almost designed to go quick--the Fuel d-handle rotary hammer at 75% off and the 5.0Ah starter kit next to it at 50% off.  $130.50 plus tax for both if my math is correct.

The normal clearance sections at most stores I've visited are located on end caps.  There is usually a tool focused end cap and one with plumbing and miscellany.  Additionally, there is almost always an electrical clearance section tucked away in or near electrical and sometimes an outdoor section in lawn and garden.  Occasionally there will be a table set up at the front of the store with tools (most new but some displays) and hardware.  Some stores will have a tool display near the contractor entrance or tool rental.

Most importantly, browse the aisles.  Many clearance items never leave their original location.  Also, check for odd places for items.  Some of the podium ladder I picked up last year at 75% off were in the paint department.

Thanks for the pointers - will give this a try!

It is all about what will be "regular stock" at that particular store. One store may be keeping the FlexVolt display, while the next one up the road will close it out and maybe it will get the 36V Makita display in it's place. I have one Home Depot about 12 miles away and another about 25. You can get much of the 20 Volt MAX line at one, while the other has it for promotions and closes it out several times a year, yet they kept the FlexVolt display. One of them has several sizes of ToughSystem available most of the time while the other has it for black friday deals in packages.

Since I figured it out a little bit, I know one will have an item all the time should I find I need it, while the other with a little patience might yield the bargains after the holidays. For example instead of $99 for the small blower and bluetooth speaker, $49 for each. Sometimes you might wait a little too long and the item sells before you grab it and other times it drops a little lower. I ended up with a  HDX 1 1/2 to 2 gallon compressor for $14 one time. I wasn't really looking for one but at that price, it was a great buy for my airbrush.

So basically I should never make a purchase from homedepot.com!  I'm going to try and visit a few stores this week to see if I can spot a deal like this...

I bolted mine through the rubber feet. Wider stance and all that and bolts are straight through no angled business.

I'm leaning towards this method.  I tried to get one of the supplied bolts into the predrilled holes and the saw and by the time I was done the threads on the bolt were all chewed up.

What size drill bit/bolts did you use?

    Thanks,

  5. I've seen a few videos on youtube that show the DCS7485 mounted on a DW7440RS.  I thought it would be an easy fit and so ordered the stand.  Unfortunately, it seems that some modification is necessary to mount this saw to this particular stand.

Has anyone here done this?  If so, can you share what you did to make it fit?

    Thanks,

    dr
