  1. well that depends on what kind of work you will be doing, if you are going to be cutting down large sheets of ply or flooring the circ saw is the tool to have, if you are ripping out stud walls or maybe doing a loft conversion theres nothing like a recip saw to cut 4x 2's quick time. i wouldnt be without either but if you are on a budget get the circular saw and a decent hand saw. either way try and get a boxed version, i hate tools in bags thrown in the back of vans.

  2. ok hard to quantify but i wondered what peoples interests were here? i notice theres a serious lack of forum "chat" here so be an interesting way to see who is here and what you all do. i am from a general construction background, started a building company when i was 22 and have moved in to groundwork and plant hire these days, but have also ran a fencing business and a few other ventures. nowadays (35) my tools are really only used to fix repair and extend my own property to sell and move on. (one day the missis will live in a fully completed house without any dust!)

    how about you?

  3. welcome, for my money, i would only buy a battery operated circular saw if you are away from power, ie not very often on most jobs in the home. they are ok at a pinch say of you are working on a roof, but the benefits and power of a mains powered circ saw far far outweigh those of the battery version in 95% of scenarios.

if i were you, i would be considering the reciprocator saw and a pack of decent spare blades, THATS a tool you will get a lot of value from around the house when doing DIY work.

    good luck

  4. but it is one monstrous lump of kit, and god only knows why dewalt chose to stick with this out dated catridge system. put that in your lorry and see what a mess it will make on a hot day in the cab... they leak everywhere. i use a grease gun daily and for me its the fuchs reiner that is the class beater today, simple design, brilliant twist on refill cartriges and plenty of pressure. every plant guy we know has this system.

  5. just had to say its these boxes that keep me buying dewalt, i dont see very much difference in the tools themselves, but when im torn between makita bosch or mil, the box always swings it for me. after ten years of buying tools from dewalt it would be a crime to put another brand in the mix now. the only weakness we have found is the side handles, they break and its the box casing instead of the handle that gives up, making it unrepairable. grrr.

  6. hi jones, i have the dcr017 which is dab digital as well as FM it also has the charging function. mine will only pick up one station on fm at best and sometimes it picks up a dab signal. my home radio works fine, car and van radios work fine but this dewalt is poor. had the same thing when i bought the last model but we changed it for another and the second was fine.

of course the dealer i got it from has tried to tell me that fm signal is weak now as everything is moving over to digital but i know this is bull. they have asked me to continue using it and if still not happy, return within 30 days. all in all i just want to have music for me and the lads on site.

  7. are there any reviews on the new generation radio yet? have had mine for only a week and it is beautiful, well made but totally useless as an actual radio. i pick up 80% more stations on my mobile phone fm radio! why is this? i was so disappointed i returned it to swap, assuming it had a fault but all the others in the shop were exactly the same...
