  1. Thanks!

No, Stop I'm trying to convince myself I don't need the DCD795 because the DCD985 works fine I cant spend money for that right now.

Lol dont get me wrong I love the DCD985 and not trading our out for one, but as soon as it breaks or we need another i wont think twice about getting the DCD795.

I got to see behind the scenes of Comerica Park once where the Detroit Tigers play.  It was pretty awesome. A company I worked for provided computers in the luxury boxes, and I got the job to go there. That sucks people that steal tools need some forum of tool related punishment. That has to be a fun job though.

Comerica is nice, never been down to the shop tho. What part of michigan you from?

  2. Thanks guys! Yeah we get to work at a baseball park on game days im there from 9-11ish (about an hour after the game) gotta enjoy it to deal with those hours lol

Was talking to our building engineer today about our tools, he has different tools than us he went mostly kobalt for hand tools and chests, but dewalt 20v for all this power tools. Hes got a DCD795D2 i cant believe how much lighter it is that our DCD985! Its amazing, im extremely jealous, he did say that during construction someone stole his tho ;( luckily we only had a few items walk off during the last leg of construction.

  3. Yes we are very fortunate to have alot of nice tools and a good size shop, currently my biggest concern is finding more space for various items.

I can assure you most of the equipment is kept spotless and in great condition, so when we need a new mower or something else we are more likely to get it because they notice how nice we keep everything. ironically the dirtiest tool in the shop is our hotsy.

The shop floor will get a epoxy finish on it this winter aswell.

  4. Heres a few more pictures

Another one of my favorite tools

I mentioned in my intro thread id make a thread showing where i work. I am the assistant groundskeeper at a triple A baseball team here in El Paso TX. The stadium was built this past year, meaning i was able to build our shop and fill it with tools. We went with mostly John Deere, Stihl, Craftsman, and Dewalt tools. Any way here are the pictures

please keep in mind these tools arent mind but still thought some might find it interesting

  7. Jonesna8, I have owned makita lxt 18v tools for the last 7 or so years, I use them professionally every day and don't baby them yet all of my original tools are still working. The quality it top notch.

over the years my collection has grown to over 20 tools and lights/radios and now 15 batteries. I have also never experienced any issues with the batteries (never lost one before many years of hard use which can be expected)

Ironically, 6 months ago I may not have recommended Makita due only to the fact that they really weren't releasing new tools to update some of their aging models.. That has all changed now.

Makita is back at it, completely revamping a solid chunk of their line and dominating!!

If and when you pull the trigger on cordless tools, you won't be disappointed with Makita!!

My dad went from older DeWalt nicad tools to makita drill and impact set a couple years ago. I hadnt used alot of makita tools other than my dads miter box. I borrowed his impact and drill to help my brother in law build his deck and i was really impressed. Then last year when i was working at the Milwaukee Brewers, we hosted Spartan Race and we used makitas to built all the obstacles they fell off a wall from about 10 feet onto concrete, it was raining all day and a few times they got very wet including laying in puddles, I was really impressed after that day.

That and now my brother in law, dad and a friend of my dad has the makita drill and impact 18v sets so itd be nice just to have the same platform as them when helping each other out.

  8. I have a few sets of traditional Craftsman combo wrenches at work and a set of their ratcheting combos (love these)

In my personal tool box i have a set of husky wrenches, a small set of husky stubby wrenches, and a set of GearWrench ratcheting combos. I love using the ratcheting wrenches, Id rather use those than a socket 95% of the time.

  9. Thanks for the welcome everybody!

He welcome to the TIA Forum fellow Michigander!!! What part of the state are you originally from? I'm located in warren aka the Detroit area :) I hope you bring some of that warm El Paso air my way. I can't deal with another polar vortex!! The grounds keeper part is really cool I'm a bit of a yard not an like to have some of the nicest grass in the neighborhood. I need to to one more low cut and then put some winter fertilizer down for the next season.

I grew up in Freeland (midland/saginaw area) but growing up my family built our cottage on lake huron in Oscoda, and then I went to school at Michigan State University.

  10. Hi guys, im Nate Jones, 22, born and raised in Michigan but moved to El Paso last winter. I am the Assistant Head Groundskeeper for the El Paso Chihuahuas baseball team (triple A affliate of the padres). I grew up helping my dad on side jobs and helped out on building a few houses. Anyway Ill prolly make a thread later on with some pictures of my work and my personal tool collection.
