Nice. I find some great deals at flea markets!

Let the metal soak in vinegar over night. Removes the rust.

Thanks for the tip! I ended up using Zep rust remover and soaked the metal for about 15 minutes. Brushed it with a wire brush and rinsed it off, they look almost new. However, next time ill probably use your suggestion since i feel Zep is very strong and acidic and I feel like it would damage the handles if i had let them soak any longer.

  3. Due to the good weather I decided to hit up the outdoor flea market today, walked away with some sweet tools.

    $30 for the Klein multimeter

    $5 for the Milwaukee Fastback

$8 for the Klein 10" adjustable wrench

Also bought some Insulated knipex pliers set off of ebay for $52. With the exception of the rust they are in great condition. I'm gonna try and clean off the rust later today.

  4. I honestly never really bothered to look at Kobalt before but recently I saw a video of the brushless 3/8 impact wrench really impressed me. Its rated at 150 ft-lbs but the video showed it breaking loose lug nuts torqued at 220 ft lbs, which was 5 ft-lbs more than the 3/8 Milwaukee fuel could break loose.

  5. I know this sounds wierd but the belt hooks on the gen 2 Milwaukees are the best Ive had on a drill and impact. Its placed near its center of gravity, so when im going up or down a ladder it doesn't swing all over the place. Its a low-key improvement that i really appreciate.

I bought the gen1 kit on this deal with the stapler and ended up returning the kit when the gen2 became available as I hadn’t used the gen1 kit yet. I kept the stapler but was only refunded 132 and some change so the stapler cost 66 and I bought the gen2 kit for 129. Yes, It’s definitely worth it for me. No doubt. The gen1 kit tools are larger than most of my 18v tools. HD offers a free 2ah battery if you buy the gen2 kit online and in some stores. I was fortunate to get the free battery offer in-store but would have purchased either way.

did you do all this at home depot? I also bought the gen 1 kit with stapler but returned it and bought the gen 2 for $179. However i was hoping to keep the stapler but they wouldn't do a return without it.

Found HD 2017 BF ad. The link says 2016, but when you actually go to the page, its the 2017 ad... http://www.thecouponingcouple.com/home-depot-black-friday-2016-ad/

Bit of a let down to be honest. It seems, for the most part, everything listed on the ad is already on sale or are current promotions. Of course I'm only speaking in regards to the power tools.

Oh well, thanks for the heads up!

  8. haha thanks for the suggestions everyone. Oh well as long as it works. Dust collection for a sawzall sounds like it can be a hassle, never even thought about it.

It was a very noticeable difference from my makita, was just curious thats all

  9. Hey guys, so I just bought the dewalt 20v brushless sawzall. I really like the weight and power on this little monster. However, this thing is LOUD. I'm talking like screeching loud at around 77-80 decibles. I have the makita brushless sawzall and it sounds nothing like it. I was wondering if this is normal for this sawzall or maybe something is wrong with it. Thanks!

  10. Hello, Kansan here!

Recently graduated and am now in my profession (engineering). However, I was always around a construction site growing up since my family's business is in residential remodeling.

Now that I graduated I now have enough money to splurge on new tools, its almost like a drug. Anyways I still do residential construction on the side. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and being part of the tool community.
