  1. i have a makita dhr242 18 volt sds drill which stopped working properly.

With fully charged battery, the chuck hesitates, sort of jutters a couple of mm.

I see quite a few for sale spares or repair with the same problem, my question is had anyone repaired same drill?

A switch is reasonable cheap but a stator is around £90 as the drills are now only about £150 not worth spending too much to repair

If this problem happens a lot, is it worth buying a new one of the same model?

    Many thanks

  2. Just picked up a DHR242 18V SDS drill as a repair project for next to nothing.

I like to think I am a pretty hands on chap, work on cars motorbikes, carpenter by trade and would like to learn a bit about repairing power tools, this will be my first project of this type.

So have checked battery which is fine.

when you pull the trigger it makes a noise, but moves a bit but doesn't fully revolve.

Have seen a video on how to dis assemble, and have a multi meter, thats as much as I know what to do.

sort of guessing that when u pull the trigger makes a noise and slight movement guessing switch ok...

What could I test from here on??
