[What particular limitations might I have with a 6 1/2" circular saw versus a 7 1/4" circular saw?]

4x4s still require a flip and two cuts with either size saw.  The 6 1/2" can cut 2x lumber no problem.  The depth of plywood and OSB is no problem with 6 1/2".  I'm trying to think on what particular limitations I may run into if I pick up a 6 1/2" cordless saw versus a 7 1/4" cordless saw.

Looking for the most power and torque.  What do you think is currently the most capable 7 1/4" cordless saw on the market?

[7 1/4" cordless circular saw blade guard problem]

The blade guard hangs up badly on mine when trying to cut at max depth.  The model I have is the  36 volt XSH06 brushless 7 1/4".  It's pretty much unusable.  I've seen a few others comments and video clips out there happening to a few others.  Have any of you found a solution?  Perhaps grinding away a bit of the front of the blade guard could help?  Interested to hear others experiences.  It's very surprising to me that this design flaw could have made it past prototyping.

So far no response from Makita.  I have submitted through the warranty contact section on their website as directed.  Done so twice now.  Anyone had any experience with Makita warranty service?

I have the exact same size and have been using it on my addition.  I think something might be up with your saw.  Mine stops at 22.5 just fine.  However I wasn't the first one to use the saw out of the box so not sure if someone adjusted something or it was fine from the box.

Thank you for the response!  Yes I think you're right and that the bevel stops on this new saw are not working properly.  I'm reaching out to Makita warranty department now.

The positive stops on my brand new Makita XSH06 for 45 degree and for 56 degrees are fine.  However, the positive stop for 22.5 degrees stops shy at about 20 degrees.  2.5 degrees inaccurate.  I've looked long and hard at it and I can't see anything blatantly wrong with the positive stopping device.  Does anyone else see this flaw in their 7 1/4" Makita circular saw?
