Dewalt DWS520 track saw problem. Button for blade change is missing.

Hi I got my Dewalt DWS520 TYPE 3 second hand and the button for blade change plunge down and lock is missing. I bought the spare parts but I struggle to see where its supposed to be fitted as the parts diagram does not provide much detail. (Parts I got from parts list diagram. Item 46, 47, 48, 49 and 56.) Got a feeling it goes round the casted post and part of it sheared off.

Would anyone post few pics of the assembly?

It requires taking blade cover off, then the blade, unhooking the spring and removing riving knife plate held by one screw. Plunging down and taking couple of pictures of the button/lever assembly. Many thanks it would be much appreciated.

That sounds frustrating! A missing blade lock button can definitely hinder using your Dewalt DWS520 track saw.

Here are a couple options to tackle this:

Refer to Resources:

Check the Dewalt DWS520 manual (if you have it) for specific instructions on blade change and identifying the button.
Alternative Blade Change Method (Without Button):
While not ideal, you might be able to change the blade without the button. This method requires caution and following safety protocols  as the blade can spin freely. Here's a general approach, but refer to a professional if unsure:
* Unplug the Saw for Safety
* Fully retract the blade using the plunge mechanism.
* Depending on the design, there might be a flat spot on the arbor shaft that you can hold with a wrench while loosening the nut with another wrench. This prevents the blade from spinning while you loosen it.
* Once loose, remove the blade and washer (if present).
* Install the new blade and tighten the nut securely.

Repair the Saw:

If you're comfortable and have the tools, you can attempt to repair the saw yourself. This might involve finding a replacement button and following disassembly/reassembly instructions (which you can find through online resources or the Dewalt service center).
Otherwise, consider taking it to a qualified Dewalt repair service center. They can diagnose the problem, replace the button, and ensure your saw functions safely.
Remember, prioritize safety! If you're not comfortable with any of these options, seek help from a professional.
