Lowe's started carrying some Ideal pliers in the electrical section. They're pretty darn nice.

Ideal does have a "bargain" line that's made in Taiwan. Haven't been in Lowe's in years, so not sure what they are currently carrying, but the Taiwan-made ones are nowhere near the same caliber.

Edit - from the prices in FrosBros pic, those have to be US-made. Better be.

That's an awesome tote... if you don't mine me asking, what brand is it?

Ideal Industries, as are all of the tools in the kit. They make electrician's tools specifically, on par with Klein. They also bought and resurrected SK Tools fairly recently.

The extra weight is what, 2 ounces? The extra 1/4-1/2" length is more of a nuisance than any weight difference.

Is that all it is? Maybe it's that they're more nose-heavy, to me. The added overall bulk is more probably the term I was looking for. The added length really is seldom an issue in my usage, as any place I'm in drilling that's tight I'm using one of the M18 Hawgs, or otherwise the impact with a Daredevil.

Can you please tell me the model of that brushless impact wrench?

    XWT08Z.

Looks to have about the same specs as my M18 Fuel HT, which hasn't met a challenge that it couldn't easily handle yet, even up here in rusty, crusty NH, including all of the suspension work on my full-size trucks.

Ah I forgot for a second they have hammer functions on drills since I only use SDS for those applications... I can't remember the last time I used my hammer function on my drills.

Have it on a few of my cordless, never use it. Though, every time I pick one of them up, I'm reminded by the extra weight that it's there. If you don't do enough to justify having an SDS with you, I suppose they're great.

  6. I use my M12 Fuel screwdriver or impact for a lot of it, but including a few nut drivers, I probably carry 15 screwdrivers in my main bag with me, which is never far from my side. I own plenty of them, but I just have never found the benefits of a multi-bit to outweigh the detriments, personally. I do like my Megapro as a house junk-drawer screwdriver, but that's about it.

Been keeping my eye out still clearanced to 72 bucks

They had 3 M18's and 3 M12's last time I was at the closest HD, and this was all that was left today - $35. Even though I have an M18 already, would have preferred another of those, but it's an hour's drive, so can't get out there often enough to really keep on top of the clearance stuff.

You mean it didn't help pull the big hawg through the wood much?

Not enough to notice, I don't think. I tried it with a 2-9/16", in my M18 HH. Even if it helped it maybe a bit up until the hole saw itself engaged, once the teeth are cutting, I don't think that little spur is really adding much.

  9. 80 here now, which is about 40 degrees warmer than some days were earlier in the week. Wife's off, so I called it a day early. We're going to go hike the mountain out back, get some exercise, try out my new personal safety device and look for antlers.
