  1. That's interesting; thanks for the clarification C Harris. I would imagine 3.0 compacts are on the horizon but I'm more concerned with 6.0 XCs anyway.
  2. The XC does have more cells to draw power from though, compared to a compact pack, so isn't as harsh on the battery pack. The challenge, I would imagine, stems from getting theoretical compact 3.0 to have the same pack durability/lifespan as the original XC 3.0 packs. This is all just posturing on my part though so maybe the technicalities of it are simpler than I think they are.
  3. Wrench over a driver for lags, definitely. Little extra oomph and less fiddly connection.
  4. While I agree impact wrenches are a better concept than impact drivers, my gen one M18 Fuel laughs at 3.5" deck screws even in mode 2. I would be lying if I said I wouldn't take longer and be more fatigued using my 2604 for the same task. Mode 3 makes tap cons a joke.
  5. I was swapping out batteries on the M18 vac yesterday and it seems like it would have enough room for a 9.0
  6. Power only does so much. With an impact driver you start running into the amounts of power that break screws. That said, I don't install cabinets or anything so that light isn't important to me. OP, it's just Milwaukee's handle design with their drills all have a light in the same spot. I would imagine we are unlikely to see that change. I'm excited to see how the slightly revised grip on the new drills feels though.
  7. No nail gun. They are "1-2 years out". Cordless miter is "1 year out". You can search NPS15 on twitter for a lot of great pics and posts from the likes of TIA and Real Tool Reviews. Off the top of my head: M18 Fuel SDS Max Fuel Super Hawg Fuel Impact Driver 2.0 Fuel Hammer/Drill/Driver 2.0 Fuel Grinder 2.0 (brake) Fuel Compact Imact Wrench 2.0 Telescopic boom led light 270 degree rotation flood light Planer 9.0 battery M12 Spotlight This seasons fashions Lots of hand tools, markers, knives etc. Hand tools that stuck out are adjustable length pipe wrenches and crescent wrenches with finer teeth that won't loosen off (my biggest issue with the adjustables I use). Pipe wrenches seem great for Johnny Homeowner but not sure we will see plumbers swapping out their aluminum Ridgids.
  8. Someone tweeted it hooked up to a meter that reads the amount of power being output I believe.
  9. They use the same connection. They are still M18 batteries, they just have more cells. They will fit previous tools. They even had a stack of lumber at the show showing the number of cuts off of a 9.0 battery. My takeaway from that would be that they used a 2731 saw for those cuts. Congrats on the saw Doof, at $99 that's a great value.
  10. From pictures the handle doesn't look too crazy but angles can play tricks on the eyes. I would think its likely a necessity.
  11. Of course. Trusting these media event depictions is like trusting Ford telling you F-150 is best, or GM with Silverado/Sierra without telling you engine, cab, box, and gear configurations used in the "test". No manufacturer is going to advertise inferiority.
  12. Ball detent is much easier to use than pin detent. Hog ring is much more convenient as well. Wouldn't change the friction ring on my 2763 to a pin detent if you paid me.
  13. They have options for hog rings as well as pin detent.
  14. Yeah, certain tools you can see a mile away, and they are often red or yellow haha

    M18 Grinder

I have a 2680 with some 4.0s. 5.0s would be nice. I'm not a heavy user, so wouldn't buy a 9.0 specifically for my grinder. To share between sawzall, circ saw, and grinder maybe.
  16. Is the grinder not just a slight upgrade over the 2680 and 2681 we already have? All I saw different was the brake?
  17. This is definitely on my to-buy list after I watch a review or two.
  18. I noticed that charger as well, a much needed update. Rob Robillard tweeted Mikwaukee says nailers are a year or two away.
  19. 4 modes. 1800 inch lbs. 3700 ipm. 3000 rpm. Summer release for drill and impact driver, as well as braking grinder, fall for 3/8 impact wrench. Info is on milwaukeetool.com now
  20. M12 seemed relegated to clothing, a flood light, and a new inspection kit.
  21. They likely will Eltoro, maybe closer to when the big battery releases in the future.
  22. Count me in also for multi tool and jig saw. You guys are reminding me of things on my wish list that didn't show up haha
  23. DeWalt's show especially seems like a distant memory. A good chunk of what I saw from them were yellow versions of 2 year old red tools, and just days later Milwaukee shows the future of cordless tools. Exciting times to already be invested in the red system.
  24. Miter saw was apparently there and gone in a flash, and, as Eric alluded to in the battery thread some of these are months and months away from release. Drills/impact in the fall from what I gather etc. and the entire year's releases aren't showcased at these all the time I don't think. 4-1 drill would be great.
  25. I am disappointed I haven't seen any modular storage system from them. I don't want more Dewalt boxes. Also disappointed that a chunk of what we've seen for Fuel are updates of existing Fuel tools, ie drill/driver, grinder, impact driver, the Super Hawg they promised at last years event. That said more is always better and down the road maybe I'll upgrade. I am excited to see the new lights, the new 9.0 battery, the planer, miter saw, etc.. A surprising amount of hand tools have me excited, including the adjustable length pipe wrench. Lots to be excited about but my biggest interest going in was One Key and we learned nothing other than "keep waiting". Overall though, there's plenty shown for me to blow cash on.
